2020 Beginner Gardening Classes - Monday Night

We will be adapting our gardening classes to meet the changing circumstances of the COVID19 outbreak. We WILL still have classes and provide more details soon.

The Beginner Gardening Class is designed for individuals and/or families - with little to no previous gardening experience - who are interested in learning about the wonders of sustainable, organic gardening in a supportive, experiential and community-based environment. Instruction and hands-on learning opportunities will be provided each week.  Supplies such as seeds and seedlings, fertilizer, gloves and hand tools will be provided.

Monday Night Class Details:

Classes run from April 13th through July 27th. There are no classes during the week of April 20th (school vacation) or May 25th (Memorial Day).

Location: All other classes will be held at our Pine Street location from 6:00 PM - 7:25, except for the first Monday night class, April 13th, which will be held off-the-farm in a classroom setting from from 6:00 - 7:25 PM (location to be determined).

Prices:

Full Bed: $350 (12 feet x 4 feet)

Half Bed: $275 (6 feet x 4 feet)

Donations accepted to subsidize the cost for low-income participants!

Benefits:

  • Learn from a professional gardening class teacher who will provide weekly instruction and individual coaching

  • Use of farm-professional raised gardening beds for class use; irrigation integrated into the beds and in an ideal sunny location

  • Access to the farm, your garden bed and class tools so that you can tend to your garden during off-hours

  • Access fresh herbs from the Farm’s herbal garden throughout the growing season for free

  • Listen to guest speakers on topics such as beekeeping, growing herbs, permaculture and composting

  • Use of class bed from April 13th through the entire 2019 growing season, usually mid-October

Please note: If you choose not to maintain your bed after the end of the class session then your bed will be harvested and reused for our Food Access Programs.

When you register, you will also have the option of signing up at the Supporter or Sustainer level and paying a higher registration fee to help NCF provide scholarships for low-income participants.
