What is a CSA?

20-Week Produce CSA $650*

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. When you subscribe to our Produce CSA, you are buying a share of our farm's harvest in advance. Beginning in early June, you will get a box of fresh vegetables grown using sustainable methods at the Needham Community Farm. Our CSA runs for 20-weeks, from late spring through the fall.

*We have increased the CSA cost this year by 4% as it reflects the current economic challenges we are facing with seed costs (10-30% increase) and supply cost (20-30% increase). We are grateful for your understanding.

Your purchase of a CSA share gives us a consistent revenue stream and allows us to focus on good land stewardship and growing high quality food. Thank you for sharing in the risk of production and know that we will do our best to provide you with fresh, in-season vegetables at an average value of $31 - $32 per week throughout the 20-week season.

What do you get?

The contents of your weekly CSA box will vary based on the season. In June, you will receive salad mixes, radishes, herbs, kale, and other greens. During the summer, you will receive tomatoes, peppers, and more. Your box will meet the produce needs of a family of 3-4 (or 1-2 vegetarians) for the week. You can review our growing chart here. Please note that seasonal challenges such as weather and pest pressure can impact the expected vegetables.

How often do I get my CSA share?

Our CSA runs for 20-weeks, from late spring through the fall. You will receive one box of vegetables per week.

Where do I pick up my shares?

CSA pick-up will be on Tuesday or Friday evenings in Needham. We will have specific pickup location options shortly.

What is the difference between a CSA share and vegetables at my local grocery store?

Our vegetables are grown on the Farm using sustainable and organic methods. You can read more about our methods here. We work hard to ensure your value per box exceeds your cost of the CSA; in 2023 our box total value was between $720 - 735. In addition, your purchase of a CSA share gives us a consistent revenue stream and allows us to focus on good land stewardship and growing high quality food. Further, purchasing produce from local farms cuts down on the transportation costs and impacts from produce coming from out of state - which is a win for the environment!

What type of communications from NCF will I get?

CSA shareholders receive a weekly communication from the Farm Manager with updates on the upcoming harvest and box inclusions. Sometimes these emails will include relevant recipes as well.

What do I do if I am away and cannot pick up my share?

NCF recommends that you ask a friend or neighbor to pick up your share for you.
